Today, we congregated at Kampala Serena Hotel with like-minded Members of Parliament on the pertinent issue of alcohol policy and legislation.

A lot was discussed but notably how to better make protection for all Ugandans, against alcohol-related harm.

As of today, we barely have 6 years to go to 2030, where we shall know how we have faired as Uganda on Target 3.5 of SDG 3, for the last 15 years!

For more context, 

Target 3.5. Strengthen the prevention and treatment of substance abuse, including narcotic drug abuse and harmful use of alcohol.

Indicator 3.5.1: Coverage of treatment interventions (pharmacological, psychosocial and rehabilitation and aftercare services) for substance use disorders.

Indicator 3.5.2: Harmful use of alcohol, defined according to the national context as alcohol per capita consumption (aged 15 years and older) within a calendar year in litres of pure alcohol.
