On the 8th of July 2023, we assembled together with other civil-society members and central government ministries at the Old Kira road Police playground to commemorate the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
This year's theme for the commemoration is, "People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention".
Activities of the day started with a solidarity march in the area of Kamwokya. Testimonies of recovery were also shared by numerous guests as well key-note speeches from the side of government (Dr. Hafisa Lukwata on behalf of Ministry of Health) and civil-society (our Chairperson, Namukasa Juliet).
The final activity of the day was the tour of the various exhibition tables, by the guests and participants.
Members of the civil-society body that congregated with us include Hope and Beyond Uganda, LMI International Uganda, Fight Drug Abuse Uganda, Homes for Recovery Uganda, Serenity Centre Uganda, Pukka Psychometric and Psychological Services, Dreams of the Tropical Youth Uganda, Kampala Youth Recovery Foundation, Butabikka National Mental Referral Hospital, Africa Retreat Center among others.
