We held a press conference earlier today at Kolping Hotel in Kampala to petition to His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to review the Excise Duty Amendment Bill 2024 considering the revision of taxation rates on alcohol and tobacco products. 

This press conference came about out of an idea birthed while at the World Health Organisation offices in Kololo, on ways how we can better communicate alcohol legislation to the masses. 

We as well as Uganda National Health Consumers' Organisation took lead in making this petition to His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni noting that it is sad and dangerous to lower taxes on alcohol and for nearly five years refuse to tax tobacco in our Uganda.
