"Dear UAPA Members, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for taking the time to attend the 16th Annual General Meeting of the Uganda Alcohol Policy Alliance (UAPA). Whether you travelled from different parts of the country or joined us from within Kampala, your presence, participation, and commitment made the meeting a great success. I hope everyone who travelled has returned home safely. I am deeply honoured and humbled by the trust and confidence you have placed in me by electing me to serve as Chairperson. I accept this responsibility with gratitude, humility, and a firm commitment to lead with integrity, transparency, inclusiveness, and accountability. I would also like to pay special tribute to our outgoing Chairperson, Ms. Juliet Namukasa, for the exemplary leadership, dedication, and selfless service rendered to UAPA over the years. Your contributions has strengthened the Alliance and laid a solid foundation upon which we shall continue to build. I look forward to continuing to draw upon your wisdom and experience as we advance UAPA’s Vision and mission. My sincere appreciation also goes to everyone who offered leadership during the elections. Your willingness to serve reflects the strength, passion, and commitment that exists within our Alliance. Together, we remain one team, united by a common purpose. As we begin this new chapter, I warmly invite every member to continue offering your ideas, expertise, and unwavering support. The ‘Alcohol-related harm’ challenge in Uganda requires a united, evidence-driven, and collaborative response. Together, we will continue to advocate for stronger alcohol policies and legislation, strengthen partnerships, amplify community voices, and protect the health and well-being of our communities. Thank you once again for your steadfast commitment to advancing evidence-based alcohol policy and curbing alcohol-related harm in Uganda. I am excited to work alongside each of you as we continue building a stronger, more impactful, and sustainable UAPA. Together, we can achieve even greater milestones. With sincere gratitude, Dr. Ruth Kikome, PhD. Chairperson, Uganda Alcohol Policy Alliance (UAPA)" 1 July 2026.
