The earlier part of our afternoon was spent at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, hosting a press conference. The purpose of this press gathering was to interact with our fellow Ugandans on Honourable Balaam Barugahara's recent directives on alcohol regulation to local governments as well as congratulate the Honourable Minister on taking this bold step of protecting the vulnerable in this country. Led by our Board Chairperson Dr. Kikome Ruth and our Board Vice-Chairperson Mr. Baguma Richard, we addressed the nation on the importance of Honourable Balaam's pronouncement on this critical issue - meant to help and benefit all Ugandans. Sections 3,4,5 and 6 of the missive of directives spoke about protecting persons under 18 years of age from alcohol, stopping early-morning consumption of alcohol, bars and malwa joints opening up after 3 PM on working days as well as enforcing lawful operating-hours directives. We pledge our support to work with Honourable Balaam on this endeavour!
